Power System for rapId Regulation with Internal controlled Unit of energy Storage
SIRIUS is a converter family built for cycling applications in Particle Accelerators. Sirius uses capacitive energy storage for recovering energy after every accelerator cycle. As a result power network supplied power is limited to the RMS system losses. The family is built around a basic converter module with an input ratings of 3ph/400V/32Arms and output ratings of 450V, 200Arms and 450Apk. The Sirius S(ingle) configuration is illustrated in the following figure.
The converter is controlled and monitored remotely by a Function Control Generator (FGC) Control Unit that is the standardised converter control platform at CERN.
