Welcome

The MPC section develops Solutions for powering normal and superconducting magnets for CERN accelerators. A large number of voltage and current source converters have been developed over the years to provide unprecedented current ratings with the strictest physics requirements.

Research and development in the section results to a number of Technical contributions every year.

Engineers undertake to write technical specifications for CERN-wide Projects and provide their expertise to physics experiments.

Converter design is a major activity for MPC Engineers and Technicians which has resulted in a number of standardised Converter families.

Finally, Maintenance & Operation of a plethora of power converters at Cern is under the responsibility of the section members. Participation in stand-by duty teams, measurements campaigns and troubleshooting are daily activities for the section Engineers and Technical staff.
