East Experimental Area Upgrade
Objective
The East Experimental Area has been home to very important physics experiments such as the Dirac, Cloud and others for over 50 years. A large number of controlled thyristor rectifiers has been providing a regulated current to more than 50 magnets, however, new physics requirements as well as energy efficiency concerns motivate an extensive renovation of the facility. The mission of the Electrical Power Converters group in the "East Area" project is to provide new power conversion solutions and coordinate the associated infrastructure upgrade.
